San Gimignano

Today we took a day trip from Florence to San Gimignano, which has probably been my favourite part of Italy so far. It is a medieval town perfectly preserved, and today there are still shops and restaurants working and plenty of people around. I loved the juxtaposition of the medieval setting and the modern feel, but with no cars around and all the shops opened directly onto the street where people were walking. It is definitely a contrast to Florence where there are so many people around.

The cathedral was also stunning

Tonight Elena, Libby and I enjoyed dinner at the Piazza del Signore which has a replica statue of Michelangelo's David.

Two posts today, one for today and one for yesterday, because I was too tired last night, but Florence has been a lot of fun so far. I do miss the peaceful Paderno del Grappa but sitting eating dinner in the Piazza del Signore was relaxing and lovely, and I love spending time in Italy with my friends!
